Description	:	OBITUARY: Brown County World - August 3, 1906 Saturday, W.A. Margrave had driven to Falls City and started to return to his home near Preston. He had driven but a block or two when the neck yoke gave way and the horse ran. Read More	OBITUARY: Brown County World - August 3, 1906 Saturday, W.A. Margrave had driven to Falls City and started to return to his home near Preston. He had driven but a block or two when the neck yoke gave way and the horse ran. The tongue of the buggy dropped and caught in the ground, which caused such a sudden stop that it is said the horse turned a complete somersault. Mr. Margrave was hurled violently out, striking his head against a tree with terrific force. The end of the singletree penetrated one of his thighs, plowing along the bone, making a ragged gash from 4 to 6 inches in length. A Falls City physician dressed the wound, but for some reason or other, instead of being taken to the hospital, Mr. Margrave remained lying there in Falls City until word was sent to Preston. Elmer Hoselton drove over and took him to the Hoselton home at that place, where he died at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from his injuries. Mr. Margrave was 61 years old. He married an Indian girl pupil of the old Highland Mission, who was raised and educated by Rev. Robert Irvin. He leaves a wife, four children, three boys and one girl; two brothers who live in northern Nebraska; one sister in California, Mrs. Geo. LeClair, one in Brown County, Mrs. Walter Herman, and another sister, Miss Susan of Hiawatha. Mr. Margrave lived for many years on the Sac & Fox reservation in the northern part of Brown County. Governor Morrill says Mr. Margrave was very wealthy, worth in all probability well on to $250,000.00. Mrs. Margrave was at Denver when the accident occurred, but arrived home two or three hours before her husband's death. Miss Sue Margrave went up to Preston in time to see her brother before his death. The funeral was held at Preston at 10 o'clock Thursday. In the sudden death of Mr. Margrave, Brown County not only loses one of her best and most honored citizens. Mr. Margrave was successful in building up a large business that will mean a handsome income for his family. His sons, William and James, will carry on his large interest in the same proper manner as before.
