He passed away on February 21, 1978 at 11:55pm at the age of 88 years, three months and 22 days. He was baptized in St. Matthew’s Church on March 20, 1891 and was confirmed there on April 16, 1905. He entered World War 1 on October 3, 1917 and was discharge on June 12, 1919. He was married to Mary Schutz on December 4, 1919 at Salem Lutheran Church. His active years was spent farming in the Holbrook and Arapahoe area until he retired to Arapahoe. He was a life long member of the Lutheran Church. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mary of Arapahoe, two sons, Donald of Lexington and Owen of Arapahoe, their wives and seven grandchildren, his sister Sophie Schutz of Arapahoe and his brother Henry of Arapahoe and also many friends and relatives. He was proceeded in death by his parents, one infant son, Junior, one sister and one brother. Funeral Services were Saturday February 24, 1979 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe with Rev. Walter Klipp officiating. Mrs. Robert Eland was the accompanist for the Church Choir. Honorary Casket Bearers were the World War I Barracks. Casket Bearers were Marvin, Bernard, Eugene and Kenneth Schutz and Harold and Glen Stagemeyer. Graveside services were conducted by American Legion Post No 96 with interment in the Arapahoe Cemetery. Williamson-Haase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
