Description	:	John William Troster was born in Germany Aug. 10, 1825 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. L. [sic] Kimple, July 5th, 1906 at 10 p.m., aged 80 years, 10 months and 25 days. He immigrated to America when 21 years of age and shortly after met an Irish lassie in the person of Miss Ellen Macelroy, to whom he was married on the 4th of September 1851 at Pittsburgh, Penn. Read More	John William Troster was born in Germany Aug. 10, 1825 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. L. [sic] Kimple, July 5th, 1906 at 10 p.m., aged 80 years, 10 months and 25 days. He immigrated to America when 21 years of age and shortly after met an Irish lassie in the person of Miss Ellen Macelroy, to whom he was married on the 4th of September 1851 at Pittsburgh, Penn. From this union there were four children, all grown, viz: Charlie, and John Troster and Mesdames Lizzie West and Mary Kimple. From Pittsburgh they removed to near Louisville, Ky., then to Indiana and to Wayne County, Iowa in a one-horse wagon in about 1852. He gave his heart to God and his hand to the M. E. Church in 1851 and for more than a half century remained in this community, true to its institutions, a loyal devoted member. He was a loyal, patriotic citizen, thoroughly in love with the country of his adoption. His more than a generation of life in Wayne County was characterized by honesty, industry and justice to each and every one. He was a quiet citizen, attending strictly to his own business and making friends with all whom he met. Since the death of his wife some years ago he has made his home in Corydon with his daughter, Mrs. Thomas West and occasionally spending some time with this other daughter, Mrs. Geo. Kimple, where he had gone just before the Normal and where he was taken sick and passed away as above stated. Thus a good citizen who had lived more than the allotted and whose life was as near without blemish as possible, passed to the great beyond with knowledge of an inheritance "not made with hands but eternal in heaven." Funeral services were conducted on Friday by Rev. Dudley, after which his remains were laid to rest in Hazel Dell Cemetery on the old John R. Allen farm.
