Orangeville Sun, January 25, 1900, page 3 - Death of Mr. Allen On Tuesday of last week there passed away a respected and well known gentleman, Mr. Wm. Allen, at the great age of 84 years. Mr. Allen was a native of Ireland and came to this country many years ago. He lived in Mono township for a number of years, but removed to Orangeville five years ago and has resided with his son, Mr. Geo Allen, since that time. He was universally respected and his word could at all times be depended upon. He was esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances in town and country. The funeral, which took place to the Forest Lawn cemetery Thursday afternoon, was a very large one. Rev. Canon Henderson officiated at the house and grave. The family who are left to mourn his loss are: Messrs Robert and Geo. of this town, James of Toronto, Thomas of Mono, Wm. and Alfred of Hartney, Man., Mrs. Wm. Craig of Caledon and Mrs. Geo. Leighton of Mono.
