Roan, 47, a director and secretary of the Hicksville Building, Loan and Savings Company, died at 4 p.m. Monday in Community Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient about three weeks. He lived at 705 E. Roan, 47, a director and secretary of the Hicksville Building, Loan and Savings Company, died at 4 p.m. Monday in Community Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient about three weeks. He lived at 705 E. Cornelia St. He became assistant cashier of the Hicksville Bank in 1948 and in 1955 was named cashier of the Bank of Leipsic, returning to Hicksville in 1960 as secretary of the Hicksville Building, Loan and Savings Company. He was named a director of the company this year. Mr. Roan was born July 22, 1918 in Delaware twp., a son of George and Ora Evalyn (Wheaton) Roan. He was graduated from Hicksville High School in 1937 and studied at LaSalle University Extension, Chicago, and at Indiana and Purdue University extensions, Fort Wayne. He joined the staff of the Hicksville National Bank shortly after graduation from high school and in 1939 accepted employment in the local Ohio Power Company office. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe. Mr. Roan was a member of Hicksville Methodist Church, past master of the Hicksville lodge, F and AM; Hicksville lodge, RAM; Leipsic chapter, OES; the American Legion and 400th Vets. He was president of the men's golf club at the time of his death and helped found the Buckeye Coin Club, serving as its first president. Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Jeanne Etchen; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Monroe, Hicksville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Cool, Auburn, Ind.; four brothers, Ford Roan, Richmond, Ind., Kenneth Roan, Hicksville, Lawrence Roan. Toledo, and Charles E. Roan, Hampton, Va. Services will be at 2 p m Thursday in the Methodist Church, the Rev. Edwin Myers officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Legion and VFW Posts.
