B. lives in his own little frame house, the very house in which he was born, helping about the farm, and watching the flock of children that keep the old place lively even as did his own five. His grandson, seven year old Jimmy Robinson, was born on Grandpa W. B.' birthday, November 12." Obituary published in Manchester Press on Thursday, December 31st, 1953 Title: W. B. Robinson, Pioneer, Passes Away on Dec. 30 Subtitle: Dies at Home Where He Was Born 88 Years Ago W. B. Robinson, 88, the last immediate descendent of a sturdy pioneer family who settled in Adams township, this county, more than a century ago, died at his farm home yesterday afternoon, Dec. 30, 1953, after a brief illness. He had been up and about the house early on the day of his death, but during the afternoon his call came and he sank into his long rest quietly and peacefully. Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be held at the Silver Creek church on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. A. Sanks officiating, burial being made in the community cemetery adjoining the church. The Gill Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robinson was born at Silver Creek Nov. 12, 1865, one of six children born to William and Matilda Williamson Robinson. His entire life was spent in that settlement on the parental homestead which ultimately became his own. On Feb. 25, 1892, he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Swindle, member of another pioneer family of that township, and for nearly 56 years their companionship was unbroken, Mrs. Robinson dying on Jan. 12, 1948. A part of Mr. Robinson's education was obtained at Epworth Seminary, but his first love was the soil and he quickly became a successful and prosperous farmer and stock raiser. For many years he and his sons dealt largely in purebred cattle, winning awards at local, state and international livestock shows. A lifelong member of the Methodist church, Mr. Robinson was in earlier years active in the Odd Fellow and Pythian lodges. For eighteen years he was a member of the board of supervisors of this county, serving in that capacity with great ability and fidelity. Surviving the pioneer are three sons--Milton M. and Anthony T. Robinson of Silver Creek and Lloyd I. Robinson of Algona; a daughter, Mrs. John W. Baird of Council Bluffs; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, and a son, Byron. Mr. Robinson, who from childhood to old age was familiarly known to all as "Willie" Robinson, had assumed a patriarchal status in the Silver Creek community, no less by virtue of great age than as a result of qualities of heart and mind which commended him to young and old alike. He was a man of the highest character and of a nature at once kindly generous and friendly. His life was upright, his disposition genial and his judgment in all matters relating to his chosen avocation sound. His birth and death in the same dwelling is without a doubt a record for longevity under one roof without a precedent in the annals of Iowa. Born in the closing year of the Civil war and only a few months after the death of the Great Emancipator, he witnessed almost the entire growth and development of an Iowa county and played a manful part in this great transformation. To his memory and to the memory of all those pioneer men and women who laid the strong and sure foundation, which now supports this edifice, we owe a debt of gratitude never to be repaid in full. Of him it may be truly be said: "After life's fitful fever he sleeps well."
