Description	:	s/o Frederick W. Goms and Bertha A. Werner. Bill married divorcee, Agnes May Arveson, d/o Maurice Cathcast & Jessie Bowershauk, on Nov 20, 1915 in Havre, MT. Maurice Cathcart [sic] and Jessie Bowersock [sic] performed in The Ringling Bros. Circus and as a Vaudeville team known as "The Cathcarts." Agnes, born in New Orleans in 1891, began performing on the Vaudeville stage at the age of six. Bill enlisted in the Army in 30 Jul 1918. He was a Mechanic with Co. A, 126th Engineers. Upon returning home, he learned that Agnes had abandoned him and was later divorced. Although he lived in Havre, MT, he died at the Ft. Harrison VA Hospital. Havre Daily News-Promoter, 31 Aug 1926, p. 1, c. 5 ELKS TO BURY WILLIAM GOMS IN HELENA Funeral services for William Goms, world war veteran who died Sunday [Aug 29] (sic) at the veteran's hospital in Helena, will be held in Helena according to word received by Mrs. P.C. Barrett, sister of the deceased, who left with Mr. Barrett this morning to attend the services. The Elks lodge at Helena will have charge of the funeral. The deceased was an active member of Havre lodge, No. 1201. William Goms, born in Henderson, Minn., Nov. 30, 1889, came to Havre in 1907 and was employed at the American Railway express office here until the outbreak of the war. He was one of the first Montana boys to enlist and saw service in France where he was wounded and left an invalid for lfe (sic). After he was discharged he returned to work but later received treatment at Helena when his ailment grew worse. He leaves a mother, Mrs. Bertha Goms, a brother Fred, a, sister, Mrs. D.A. Armstrong, and a sister Mrs. Barrett, all of Havre. A brother, Herbert, lives in Minneapolis and a brother, Albert, in Lewistown.
