Funeral Mass was Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Miller. Burial with military honors followed at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Miller. Bill was born on March 18, 1933 in Hand County, South Dakota, as the seventh of ten children to Herman and Rose (Koeck) Oligmueller. Bill received his education and graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1951. Following graduation, Bill served in the United States Army in the Honor Guard for President Dwight Eisenhower, which included guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After his service in the army, Bill came back home to work on the farm in Miller. On September 25, 1958, he married Audrey Thompson at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Huron, South Dakota. In September 1959, he and Audrey moved to a farm 20 miles northeast of Miller, where they raised their family until 1998 when they moved into the town of Miller. Once moving into town, Bill began working at the local hardware store. Bill was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and served many years on the Miller School Board. He loved his Miller Rustlers’ and SDSU Jackrabbits, where he very much enjoyed all sporting events. He spent many miles in the car driving across the state of South Dakota to attend numerous events when he wasn’t busy working. Privileged to have shared his life are his children: Meri (Michael) Fischer of North Carolina, Todd (Susan) Oligmueller of Pierre, and Suzanne (Bob) Murphy of Elk Point; grandchildren: Amanda (Patrick) Northern of Okinawa, Japan; Joseph (Jordan-Lynn) Fischer of North Carolina; Kelsey (Matt) McQuistion of Pierre; Mel LeVeque of Pierre; Allyson Murphy of Rochester, MN; Nick Murphy of Minneapolis, MN; and Michael Murphy of Elk Point; great- grandchildren: Cannon, Tanner and Audrey Northern of Okinawa, Japan; and Dean McQuistion of Pierre; seven siblings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Oligmueller; his daughter, Shawn Oligmueller; his parents; his brother, Herman “Junior” Oligmueller; and his sister, Rosemary Augspurger.
