WILLIAM BRAINARD VANCE William Vance was stricken suddenly with uremia while busy with his work at the home of his brother, Joe, Saturday evening. He was brought to the hospital unconscious and remained in that condition until Monday morning, when he passed away. He had been a well-known resident of Pawnee county for many years and had many friends who received the news of his death with sorrow. William Brainard Vance was born at Pre-emption, Ill., February 27, 1873, and departed this life, January 4, 1926. When Will was 7 years old his parents, with their two children, Will and Jennie, moved onto a farm four miles southeast of Pawnee City where he resided all his early life. He received his education in the Pawnee Academy. December 23, 1893, he was married to Miss Clara Faulstitch, to which union were born two daughters, Mrs. Ray Jordan of Idaho falls, Idaho, and Hazel Vance of this city. For a number of years he was a resident of Chicago and vicinity, returning a year and a half ago at the time of his mother's death, since which time he has made his home in Pawnee City. Without the slightest warning he was stricken with uremia last Saturday evening while busy about his work at the home of his brother, Joe Vance, and became unconscious immediately. In spite of all that loving care and medical skill could do he failed to recover. He leaves to mourn his departure two daughters, Helen Jordan of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Hazel, of this city; his father, E. L. Vance, a brother, Joe Vance, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Woods and Mrs. Mabel Bozard, all of this place, two granddaughters, Jean and Florence Jordan, besides other relatives and friends. One sister, Eleanor Vance Eckman, the youngest of the family, passed away about sixteen years ago. His death occurred at Pawnee Hospital Monday morning, January 4. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from the home of his father. Rev. Milo Rose of the Methodist church officiated and burial was made in the family lot at the Pawnee city cemetery.
