He was born July 2,1911 at Fehmarn, Germany to Christian and Sophie Ide Bahr. He came to the United States in 1913. He was married to Beulah Glidewell on Dec. 14, 1939 at Sibley. He became a United States citizen in 1953. He had farmed most of his life, retiring in 1977. He had been a Quimby area resident since 1928. He was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church, the Quimby Methodist Men, the Quimby Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Association for Retarded Citizens, and was a former member of the Eagle's Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister in infancy, and three half brothers and three half-sisters. He is survived by his wife, Beulah; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Phyllis Bahr of Quimby, and Dennis Bahr of Cherokee; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jim Bahr, Jolene and Tim Steinbarth, and David and Mary Bahr; one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons.
