The death of William Conrad, a well-known citizen of New Germany and a man universally esteemed in the community, occurred at his home here on Friday afternoon. Ten days previous to his passing away, while attending to his duties about the barn, he fell and lay for some time directly under the eaves of the building during a heavy rain storm before he was discovered by his wife, who, being alone at the time, had much difficulty in getting him moved into the house. The death of William Conrad, a well-known citizen of New Germany and a man universally esteemed in the community, occurred at his home here on Friday afternoon. Ten days previous to his passing away, while attending to his duties about the barn, he fell and lay for some time directly under the eaves of the building during a heavy rain storm before he was discovered by his wife, who, being alone at the time, had much difficulty in getting him moved into the house. At first his condition was not recognized as being serious, but pneumonia with complictions developed, and in spite of everything possible having been done to bring about a recovery he passed away on Friday afternoon. Mr. Conrad was born at Lower Branch seventy years ago the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Conrad. Of this family of ten children there now remain five brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Samuel of Simpson's Corner; Nathan and Lewis of New Germany; Thomas of Bridgewater; and Reuben, residing in the State of Maine; and the sisters are Annie, wife of Samuel Cooke of New Canada; and Bessie, wife of Henry Conrad of Lower Branch. In his immediate family he is survived by his wife, who before marriage was Miss Hannah Durland of Simpson's Corner and by one daughter, Sadie, wife of Rassie Feindell of New Germany; also by two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
