Description	:	The Humboldt Sun - October 27, 2008 MR. WILLIAM C. LEWIS William Crawford Lewis (Bill) passed away peacefully in Reno with his family by his side, he was 96 years old. Bill was born in St. Francois County, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1911, and raised by his Grandmother and two Aunts. He married Ressie Armon in 1932. Together they came out to Nevada in the early 1930's and he worked at Buckskin and Tungsten mines until he went to work for the Western Pacific Railroad in 1937 as a Fireman. LEWIS William Crawford Lewis (Bill) passed away peacefully in Reno with his family by his side, he was 96 years old. Bill was born in St. Francois County, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1911, and raised by his Grandmother and two Aunts. He married Ressie Armon in 1932. Together they came out to Nevada in the early 1930's and he worked at Buckskin and Tungsten mines until he went to work for the Western Pacific Railroad in 1937 as a Fireman. In 1944 he was promoted to Locomotive Engineer and worked until his retirement in 1976. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. During the 1950's and 60's Bill and Ressie operated the Western Inn Hotel in Elko and the Motel Winnemucca. He was an avid sportsman, hunter, and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling to Cascade Lake and Lake Mead after his retirement. Bill loved people and would do anything to help his friends and family with projects, he was especially adept on making things work better and easier and had a special talent for working on lawn mowers and water systems in motor homes and trave! trailers. Bill loved dogs, especially hunting dogs he had many special relationships with them throughout his long life. He is survived by his step daughter Maxine Nelms, grandson Rodney Nelms (wife) Debbie, granddaughter Charlotte Banks, (husband) Bill, great grandson Brian Banks and two great great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Donations in his name can be to the Humane Society, 200 Kresage Lane, Sparks, Nevada 89502. Services were held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Winnemucca Cemetery.
