Prosecutor Paul A Klasen Jr., said that Wright's wife, Jean, 29, admitted that she fired the shot at the climax of a family quarrel. Mrs. Wright and Jack William Hepfer, 27, who lived at the Wright home with his 18-month-old son, were being held in the Grant Count jail, and Prosecutor Klasen said the two would be questioned again today. Klasen said no charges had been filed in the case. Klasen said he was attempting to contact Dr. C. W. Westman, Kennewick pathologist, and request him to perform an autopsy on Wright's body. The body is at the Eccleston and Coy Funeral Home in Moses Lake. Wright and his family were said to have come to the area from East Wenatchee about six weeks ago and Wright is believed to have been employed as a pipe layer by a contractor. The shooting occurred in the Wright home, which is located between Larson Air Force Base and the Grant County Fair Grounds on the old Ephrata-Moses Lake highway. Mrs. Wright told authorizes that earlier in the evening she and her husband and her two daughters by a previous marriage, Patricia Jean, 14, and Mary Jo, 7 and Hepfer and his small son, had gone to a drive-in theater located about a quarter of a miles from the house. She said her husband returned home ahead of the rest of the group and went to bed. When the rest of the party returned, Mrs. Wright said her husband became quarrelsome. Authorities did not say whether fight occurred or not, but the house showed signs of a recent struggle. A chair with a broken leg was near Wright's body in the kitchen, the plaster board walls of the house and several apparent fresh breaks in the wall and a ukulele in the girl's bedroom was shattered. Mrs. Wright said she and Wright were married about four years ago. She and Wright had been drinking heavily during the past month and had spent several hundred dollars. She said her husband became extremely quarrelsome when he had been drinking during the day and evening of his death. Mrs. Wright told Sherriff Cecil Gilman she had left her husband several times but had returned when he would promise to quit drinking. She said her husband frequently abused her, and also scolded and berated her daughters severely at times.
