Hall and Melissa Angeline Holmes OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, October 16, 1928 WILLIAM HALL William Hall was born on Feb. 8, 1854, near Russell, Iowa, and passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hattie Riddle, in Chariton, on Oct. 2, 1928, aged 74 years, seven months and six days. He was the eldest child of Reisen and Melissa Hall. His father passed away many years ago when he was 8 years old, leaving the care of the entire family to the widowed mother, and the double burden of this one child, who has always been an invalid. Since the passing of his mother 17 years ago, his home has been with his sister, Mrs. Hattie Riddle, who with another sister, Mrs. Mary Duckworth, survives him, also two nephews, Harry Duckworth of Murdock, Nebr., Arthur Duckworth, of Millerton, Iowa and two nieces, Mrs. Goldie Rhodes of Chariton and Mrs. Carrie Nichols of Des Moines. Thus, with time goes the old family ties. One by one the footsteps are passing on the sands of time to mingle with the ones who have gone before and the one who so carefully guarded her afflicted boy, whose life was one constant thought for him who has gone. That same care was given him by his sister. These two sisters are now left alone of that pioneer family. We leave them in the Father's hand for some day we will understand. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hattie Riddle, in this city, by Rev. Geo. J. Cornford, with burial in the Bethel cemetery in Cedar township. Thus, the body sleeps until the coming of his Lord who will bring His children forth in a state of perfection.
