Waite, an old veteran of the civil war, died very suddenly at his home three miles north of town Sunday morning. He had been a sufferer of several years with heart trouble, having had a number of attacks in the last two years, and Sunday morning early when out to pasture after the cows he fell from his horse and evidently expired at once. The horse returning to the house without him, search was made for him and his body found where he had fallen. Mr. Waite was 63 years of age and was born in Pennsylvania (the son of John McQuillan Weight and Mary Edmiston Weight). He came to Woodbine several years ago (1891) and has lived on the same farm during his residence here. He leaves a wife, two sons, and one daughter. The funeral was held from the Christian church Monday afternoon, Rev. R. F. Hall preaching the sermon and the services at the grave being in charge of Eaton Post, G. A. R., of which deceased was an honored member. He was a member of the Church of Christ and an esteemed citizen, generally respected by all acquaintances. Woodbine Chronicle. Notes: William E. Waite is buried with his second wife Lucinda A. Kritzer under the spelling of Wm. E. Weight. His children were Wm. Albert Weight (whose mother was Elvira M. Trueman Johnston), Mary Marguerite Waite, and John Franklin Waite, and a stepson Wm. D. Horn. He owned nothing but a horse at his death. Another daughter, Clara A (Mrs. Lewis Fowler), by Elvira Truman, is not mentioned. She raised a family in Berwindale, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
