Mr. Pollock was born February 5, 1927 in Union County, NC, son of the late John William and Carrie Amanda Trull Pollock. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Pollock Walters and a brother, Alfred E. Pollock. Earl was a member of the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. Read More	MONROE - William Earl Pollock, 82, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Pollock was born February 5, 1927 in Union County, NC, son of the late John William and Carrie Amanda Trull Pollock. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Pollock Walters and a brother, Alfred E. Pollock. Earl was a member of the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. He was a plumber for over fifty years and was the owner of Marshvile Plumbing Services. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth 'Pat' Pollock of the home; one son, Dennis Pollock and wife Sandy L. of Monroe; one daughter, Diane Vona and husband Russell of Fayetteville, NC; seven grandsons, Richie Vona of Fayetteville, NC, Cameron Vona, Scott Vona, and Michael Vona, all of Charlotte, NC, Jason Pollock and wife Jacklyn of Monroe, Campbell Walters of Greenville, SC, Nicholas Mullis of Monroe; two granddaughters, Jessica Drake and husband Scott, and Lauren Mullis, both of Monroe; three great grandsons, Weston Pollock, Bryson Pollock, and Trenton Pollock, all of Monroe; and two brothers, Ormond Pollock and wife Deloris, and Donald Pollock, both of Monroe. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Earl will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Charles Broome and Rev. Talbot Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroe City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, February 28th, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1712 Carmel Church Road, Monroe, NC 28112, or to Hospice and Palliative Care, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
