Augusta Bridgland was born January 2, 1874 or 77 at Calhoun, Nebraska. To William and Augusta were born six children. Arthur Paul, Jessie, Frances, Esther, Viola and Thomas, now deceased. Arthur Paul was born May 13, 1897 at Fullerton, Nebraska. He was educated in District 50 from 1904 to 1912. He worked as a mechanic for Nelson Barber and Sheaff & Sons and later farmed. He married Dora Elizabeth Taylor on March 3, 1920 at Central City, Nebraska. They moved to Benson, Minnesota where they still reside. They have two children. Darwin Arthur married Lucy Marie Cox in St. Edward, Nebraska. They live on a farm in Benson, Minnesota and have three children. Edward Richard married Barbara June Williams. They have three children. --------------------------- From a 1913 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: William Edward Bridgland was born in Tippecanoe Co., Ind. Nov 27th, 1860, and died at his home near North Star, Nance Co. Nebr., Jan. 7th 1913, aged 52 years, 1 month and 11 days. In 1862 the family moved from Ind. to Iroquois Co. Ill., where the deceased spent his early boyhood days, the family making their home there until 1879, when they came to Nebr. Their Nebr. home for the first four years was on a farm on the Loupe valley about ten miles south west of Fullerton; they then moved to a farm near North Star, where they have since resided. On May 23rd 1894 the deceased was united in marriage with Miss Agusta Seankey, who with five children are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. The deceased was the only son of Mrs. Ann Bridgland, so well known as "Grandma Bridgland" in whose loss and sorrow, with that of the family, the entire neighborhood extends sympathy. Our brother was converted to God and united with the North Star U.E. Church under the labors of Rev. Geo. Stimson in Jan. 1900, which membership he maintained to the end. He was high spirited. He was young for his years, and always enjoyed a good time. He never forgot the chums of his earlier days. He loved God and meant well. His home was ever the preacher's home. He will be greatly missed in the church and neighborhood as well as in the home. Funeral from the North Star church Friday afternoon, in charge of the pastor. Sermon by Rev. Stimson assisted by Rev. Lehr, former pastors.
