Read More	Delphos Republican April 1, 1932 Ed Keener Dies Ed Keener, a former resident of the Bethel community, passed away at his home in Sharon, Ks., one day last week, and his body was brought to Delphos Sunday for burial in the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Keener married Miss Lou Everley, a sister of Mrs. J.L. Dilliner, and two daughters were born to them. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Keener was an uncle of the Keener boys who live in this neighborhood. April 8, 1932 William Edward Keener was born January 20, 1867, in Green County, Penn., and died at his home near Sharon, Ks., March 25, 1932. At the time of his death he was 65 years, 2 mos. and 5 days old. He came to Delphos when 16 years of age, and made his home there until he entered the ministry in 1896. On October 9, 1889 he was united in marriage to Lurena Everley. To this union were born Mrs. Merle Edwards of Spokane, Washington and Mrs. Emmitt Cline of Sharon, Kansas. He was converted at the age of 9, and united with the Methodist Church. Later he joined the Free Methodist church, of which he was an ordained minister, serving 8 years as a circuit minister. Because of his failing health he moved to Sharon in 1904. Three years later he was located there by the Annual Conference at his own request. Besides his wife and two daughters, he leaves three grandchildren and many relatives and friends to mourn his passing. ‘Ed', as he was familiarly known, had several operations and severe illnesses, and was an invalid the last 3 years of his life. Through it all he was a patient sufferer. A few hours before his death he told his family he was ready to meet his Lord. His last conscious words were "Praise ye the Lord, oh my soul!' Thou goest sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust like one that draws the drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams. Funeral services were held in his home town, Sharon, by his pastor, also at his old home neighborhood at the Bethel Church, near Glasco, conducted by Rev. A.E. Grothaus, assisted by Rev. J.L. Phillippi. His remains were laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery to await the morning of the resurrection.
