Description	:	William F. G. Moede was born in Germany, August 7, 1841. He was married to Agusta Ottow, April 3, 1866 and on the 17th day of the same month set sail for the United States...the home of a free people. After six weeks spent upon the bosom of the mighty deep during which time they passed through the experiences of an ocean voyage in mighty storms that at times denied them hope of reaching this side of the deep in safety, they landed at New York June 2nd. He was married to Agusta Ottow, April 3, 1866 and on the 17th day of the same month set sail for the United States...the home of a free people. After six weeks spent upon the bosom of the mighty deep during which time they passed through the experiences of an ocean voyage in mighty storms that at times denied them hope of reaching this side of the deep in safety, they landed at New York June 2nd. The undaunted young people, first located in Wisconsin, but in 1870 moved to Sterling, Illinois, where they remained until 1880. In that year they came to Webster county, locating at Red Cloud. Here they remained on a farm until 1903, at which time the family moved to Blue Hill, were the venerable man answered the last call, April 12 1920. The funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 15th, at the Trinity Lutheran church of Blue Hill, by the pastor Rev. Ernst and burial took place in the Blue Hill cemetery. To the deceased there were born thirteen children, eleven of whom survive to mourn the departure of an indulgent and loving father. Two sons preceded the father to the great beyond, in their infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. C. E. Eldredge, of Kensington, Kansas; Paul Moede, of Sterling, Illinois; Mrs. Michael Bliss, of Inavale, Nebraska; Mrs. Grant Turner, of Red Cloud, Nebraska; also Harry Moede, of the same place; Max of Coleta, Illinois; Mrs. O. G. Stevens, of Benkelman, Nebraska, Fred Moede of Konona, Kansas, and Mrs. George Topham and John and Chas. Moede, all of Blue Hill. An aged wife and companion is also left to mourn the loss of a dutiful husband with whom she has walked many years in life's eventful journey both in the spirit and life of their church and its teachings and the laws of our great commonwealth and land. There are also twenty-nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren left to mourn the passing of a worthy grand and great grand sire. Blue Hill Leader.
