On the 1870 Lexington, VA census, I found retired merchant, Joseph White, 45; Anna R. White, 16 and at school WM GEO. White, 14, all VA born. 1908: Valuable Property Sold, Mr. John Sheridan has purchased of Mr. W. G. White and his sister, Miss Annie R. White, the White property on Main street adjoining Varner, Pole & Co., furniture dealers. The price paid was $6,000. This property was in the White family for more than one hundred years. Mr. George White, grandfather of the recent owners, living there a century ago. Mr. White has an old insurance policy of date 1827, showing that the property was insured in the Mutual Insurance Society of Virginia at that date and has since been in the same company. 14 Oct 1908 issue of the Lexington Gazette.
