Mr. Wright suffered great agony while the cancer was being drawn but his great hopes that a cure has been effected. His many friends will be happy to know that he has gone through the ordeal and is on his way to recovery, for without extraction the cancer would probably have proven fatal. Wright to Marion, South Dakota, where he will consult a specialist in regard to his health. They will leave here tomorrow. His wife and daughter-in-law Mrs. Harry Wright went to Hampton Sunday and returned with him Monday. Mr. Wright underwent a very serious cancer operation and hid right eye was removed. He is able to be up but still feels bad effects from the operation. His numerous friends will be delighted to learn he is recovering. Wright who is at Dr. Seaman's sanitarium taking treatments for the cure of a cancer that has robbed him of his right eye. Harry reports that his father is getting much better and that, he feels sure he will be cured of the cancer. Mr. Wright will remain at the sanitarium until such time his doctors release him, but is anxious to be at home in Britt. WRIGHT A SUFFERER IN SATE HOPSITAL: Wm. G. Wright who is a patient at an Iowa City hospital, was reported to be in a serious condition Friday and the family was notified and his son Harry left that night and retirned home early Monday morning leaving his father slightly improved, although he is yet in a serious condition. Mr. Wright has been there three weeks for treatment and the fore part of last week underwent an operation. Page 5 Mrs. Wm. Wright and Mrs. Harry Wright are leaving this evening for Iowa City, to see Wm. Wright, who is a patient at the Iowa City hospital. Mr. Wright is reported to be in a very serious condition. The Britt News Tribune, Wednsday, May 1, 1929, Page 1, Column 6: WILL WRIGHT'S LONG SUFFERING IS ENDED Mr. Wright Had Been Sufferer From Cancer for Several Years: William Gilbert Wright, for fifty years a resident of Britt has passed the way of the world and his death comes as a relief to many months of intense suffering from cancer. The immediate cause of death, however, was erysiples and his passing was at a hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Wright was a plucky man. During all the years since his health has been declining he has been in hospitals off and on and almost immdeiately afterward it seemed his energy compelled him to work. His friends marvelled at his tenacity in holding on to life and his cheerfulness under the most distressing and discouraging circumstances. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife and two sons, Clarence, of Chicago, and Harry in Britt. There are three brothers, Shannon at Clear lake, David at Northfield, MInn., and Charley of Waseca, Minn. Also three sisters, Mrs. Emma Jensen at Owatonna, MInn.; Mrs. Effie Lewis at Galena, Illinois; and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson at Anita, Iowa. There are left a number of grandchildren and other close relatives as well as many intimate friends. His birth dates back to Sept. 12, 1857 and the place was Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He came west in early life. He was married to Lena Wenz at Forest City on Nov. 22, 1883. Mr. Wright was a member of the Methodist church and of the Modern Brotherhood of America lodge. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, Tuesday, April 30th, the Rev. G.W. Eggleston in charge.
