Died at the Soldiers and Sailors Home Hospital, Milford, Nebr., Dec. 18, 1914, aged 71 years, 6 months and 26 days. At the age of 15 he converted and united with the M. E. church of Marion, Iowa. He enlisted in Co K 9th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Sept. 9, 1861, and served until the end of the war, discharged July 18, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky, by reason of expiration of term... Died at the Soldiers and Sailors Home Hospital, Milford, Nebr., Dec. 18, 1914, aged 71 years, 6 months and 26 days. At the age of 15 he converted and united with the M. E. church of Marion, Iowa. He enlisted in Co K 9th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Sept. 9, 1861, and served until the end of the war, discharged July 18, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky, by reason of expiration of term of service. In 1867 went to California; in 1896 he homesteaded in Nebraska near Milford, where he spent the remainder of his life, was a friend of everyone and was commonly known as Uncle Billy. On Oct. 20, 1864 he was united in marriage with Mary E. Whitenack, to which union five childen were born. His wife and two daughters, May C. Bromwell and Mrs. G. D. Wheeler havind preceded him in death, he leaves to mourn his death two sons and one daughter; H. E. Bromwell of Omaha; J. A. Bromwell of Crete and Mrs. W. S. Kinney of Crete; his mother, Mrs. James E. Bromwell of Marion, Iowa; three brothers and two sisters; Mrs. M. W. Keplar, Dorchester, Nebr.; L. H. Bromwell, Council Bluffs, Iowa; T. D. Bromwell, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; James E. Bromwell, Marion, Ia.; Mrs. Addie Shumach, Marion, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services were conducted the the S. and S. Home Sunday, Dec. 20, by Rev. F. E. Pfoutz, of the M. E. church in Milford. Interment was made in Blue Mound cemetery.
