Read More	William H. Hall Dies at Allerton W. H. Hall, 81 years old, died very suddenly at his home in Allerton at 2:50 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Hall had suffered a heart attack several months ago, but the past few months had felt quite well and his passing came as a shock both to the community and to his wife who has given him so much care. Mr. Hall had the happy faculty of looking on the bright side of life and every one who knew him was his friend. William H. Hall, son of James and Martha [Kimple] Hall, was born on what is known as the Hall farm 2 ½ miles west of Allerton, May 4, 1866, and died at his home in Allerton October 19, 1947, aged 81 years, 5 months and 15 days. He was married to Maggie [Lydia Margaret] Knight at Tonganoxie, Kansas, June 28, 1899. To this union a son was born who died in infancy. He served in the U. S. army all through the Spanish-American war. After he returned home he farmed for ten years, three years of that time near Fulton, Mo., then he moved to Allerton. He was a public spirited man, always ready to do anything for the good of the community. He was postmaster at Allerton for 12 ½ years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the official board, and superintendent of the Sunday school for years, and will be greatly missed, as he was always ready to do anything for the cause of Christ. He is survived by his wife; a brother, L. L. [Lyman Leonard] Hall and family of Lynwood, California; two sisters, Mrs. J. W. [John Wesley] Garratt and Miss Libbie [Elizabeth] Hall; two nephews, Zell and Boyce Garratt, all of Allerton. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. S. P. Trostle, assisted by Rev. H. B. Fay. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Duncan, Mrs. Vern Bettis and Ira Duncan, accompanied by Mrs. Karl Binau. Pallbearers were: Clare Doughterty, Sam Fenton, Zell Garratt, Lee Cochran, Lee Bracewell and Charles Shelton. Burial was in Allerton Cemetery. possibly the Times-Republican, published in Corydon, Iowa, 1947
