Funeral Services, 11 AM, Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty. Officiating, Rev. Randy Kelley, Rev. Richard Booker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Kivett was a native of Randolph County, attended Ramseur High School, retired from Glendon Pyrophylite and was a member of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral Services, 11 AM, Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty. Officiating, Rev. Randy Kelley, Rev. Richard Booker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Kivett was a native of Randolph County, attended Ramseur High School, retired from Glendon Pyrophylite and was a member of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church. An avid sports fan, Harold was inducted into the NC American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 and was awarded the Unsung Hero Award from the NC High School Athletics Association in September of 1996. He served as assistant varsity baseball coach at Eastern Randolph High School for a number of years and received the Lay Coach Award for school years 1979/80 - 2008/09. He was a recipient of the American Legion Citation for Meritorious Service Award in July 1980, as well as the Outstanding Service to American Legion Baseball Award, ER Post 125. He coached Liberty Post 81 and Ramseur Post 125 Legion baseball between 1977-2002 and played ball himself begining at age 13 with the Deep River League, later with Ramseur High School, the McCrary Eagles, and Ramseur Shells. In addition, Harold led the football chain crew at Eastern Randolph for many years and was also an avid deer hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie K. and Eula Mae McMasters Kivett, brother, Kermit Kivett and sister, Kathleen Foust. Survivors: wife, Louise Ingram Kivett, sons, Mitchell Kivett, and wife, Marilee, of Snow Camp, Steve Kivett, of Liberty, Neill Kivett and wife, Elisha, of Ramseur, brothers, John Henry Kivett, of Climax, Wayne Kivett and James Kivett, both of Liberty, grandchildren, Fharren Crowson, Andrew Kivett and Dallas Kivett. Visitation, 6 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, other times at the home of Neill and Elisha Kivett, 2049 NC Hwy 49 N, Ramseur. Arrangements by Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur.
