Read More	Harrison "Hack" Brookover, passed away December 15, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1924 in Eureka, KS to Harrison and Marjory (Simpson) Brookover. Hack graduated from Eureka High School in 1942 and proceeded to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 where he was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. In 1950, Hack married Patricia (Pat) Seward. He had a long career in education including teaching and coaching in Goodland, KS and Coffeyville Jr. and Sr. High and administrator in Burdett, KS, Coffeyville, and South Coffeyville, OK. He also worked with the Coffeyville Boys and Girls Club for many years. Later, he was elected to the USD #445 School Board and served as President. Hack owned and operated a sporting goods store in Coffeyville, Hack's Sports Shack, where he had many great memories. One in particular was the Hack's fast-pitch softball team who won many trophies and the state championship. Hack was an active member of the Lions Club for 60 years. During this time, he served as District Governor twice and Council Chairman for the State Lions Club and attended 15 International Lions Club Conventions. Hack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat and their three children; Craig (Betti) Brookover of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Brookover of Coffeyville, and Tim (Lisa) Brookover of Effingham, KS; one grandchild, Abby Brookover of Denver; two step-grandchildren, Michelle (Philip) Ramirez of Corpus Christie, TX and Fielding Brenner of Topeka; and two brothers Robert (Janet) Brookover of Ft. Collins, CO and Mason Brookover of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, James. The family has been long-time members of the First Presbyterian Church where Hack served as a Deacon and Elder throughout the years. The family requests memorials to the Coffeyville First Presbyterian Church through David W. Barnes Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, December 19 at 10:00am at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Diane Massey officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Monday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, KS with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, KS. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home.
