Description	:	William (Bill) Henry Palmer of Pittsburg, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. He was a patient at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center at the time of his death. Mr. Palmer was born January 20, 1920 at Mulberry, Kansas to Ira and Ruth Pilkington Palmer. Mr. Palmer was born January 20, 1920 at Mulberry, Kansas to Ira and Ruth Pilkington Palmer. He grew up in Mulberry and attended Mulberry schools. Mr. Palmer was in the coal business for more than sixty-five years. In 1936, he and his father, owned Palmer and Son Coal Co. and also started C & G trucking. This later became known as Graves Truck Line. The coal business then became Palmer Coal and Rock. Mr. Palmer was one of the founders of Midwestern Mining. He was also a master mechanic for Peabody Coal and a dragline operator for P&M at La Cygne, KS. At the age of 84, he retired from Palmer Limestone to care for his wife, Margaret. He was united in marriage to Margaret Ellen Dungan on September 17, 1939. She survives at their home in Cornerstone Village, Pittsburg. Membership was held in the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an elder. Mr. Palmer served as a councilman on the Mulberry City Council. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ira (Will) Palmer and his wife, Vicki, of Pittsburg; four granddaughters, Dr. Lorri Darrow and her husband, Lawrence, of Springfield, MO, Kimberly Palmer-Merando of Mulberry, Kelly Palmer of Arma, and Kristan Palmer of Perry, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Palmer and his wife Geri, of Pittsburg; one sister, Lucille Herrell of Butler, MO, nieces, nephews, and cousins; Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Wayne Dungan Palmer, a grandson, Wayne Dungan Palmer, Jr., a great-grandson, Aaron Wayne McMillin, and one sister, Florence Palmer. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 3) at the Brenner Mortuary, with Pastor Bob Cuthbertson officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church or Cornerstone Village. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg.
