He moved with his parents to La Salle county, Illinois, when a small boy. In 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Dora Whitemore.Soon after he moved to Nebraska, homesteading on a farm near Mc Cool, York county.The remainder of his life has been spent in Nebraska. Mr. Ellis united with the Methodist church at the age of 23 and was a member of that church until a few years ago, having changed his membershipto the Evangelical church. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, Mrs. Dora Ellis, and eight children-M.S. Ellis of Blue Vale, J.B. Ellis of Benedict, L.G. Ellis of York. Mrs. Hattie Henson of Thayer. Mrs. Ethel McCormick of Bedford, Iowa, Mrs. Nellie Morain, Mrs. Myrtle Millholen, Mrs. Estella Wheeler of York, Nebraska.Also two sisters-Mrs. John Johnson of Beaver Crossing, and Mrs. August Harms in Wyoming: two brothers- Silas Ellis of York and Charles Ellis of Huntington, Oregon. Funeral services of this pioneer of York county were held in the Evangelical church on Monday afternoon by pastor, Rev. C. E. Nichol, and interment was made in Greenwood. (April 8, 1926 York Republican) WILLIAM HENRY ELLIS PASSES AWAY YESTERDAY William Henry Ellis passed away Sunday morning at eight o'clock at the family home, 1508 York avenue, after a long illness. He had been in poor health for four years and was poorly all winter. Mr. Ellis was 73 years of age and has been a resident of York county for nearly fifty years, coming here shortly after his marriage. He farmed between York and McCool until failing health necessitated his retirement four years ago. He is survived by his widow and eight children. Melvin Ellis, McCool; Mrs. Stella Wheeler, Mrs. Nellie Morain, Leslie and John Ellis of York, Mrs. Ethel McCormick, Bedford, Ia., Mrs. Hattie Henson, Thayer, and Mrs. Myrtle Milhollen, York. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church this afternoon at two-thirty. Rev. Nichols, pastor of the church, was in charge. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.
