Jefferson Herald - Thursday, October 23, 1930 - Funeral services for Wm. Knoll, long time resident of Willow township, were held Monday, Oct. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church in Willow township. The Rev W.H. Friedrich was in charge of the services, using a text from Matthew 10:23. Burial was in Willow cemetery. Wm. Knoll was born Dec. 19, 1851, at Weltendorf, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany. Here he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of twenty he came to the United States of America. On Oct. 24, 1879 he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Minnie Hacker in Cook county, IL. Three years later they came to their farm northeast of Coon Rapids on which they have lived for 48 years. Last year they observed their Golden Wedding anniversary. This union was blessed with 8 children. Two sons died in infancy. Their daughters, Carrie and Mrs. Mary Titus, also preceded their father in death, the former twenty-five years ago. On May 23, 1886 the deceased became a member of the newly organized Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church in Willow township. After a three weeks' illness of pneumonia, he fell asleep in Jesus on Friday evening, Oct. 17, 1930, at the age of 78 years, ten months, and twenty-eight days. Surviving are his grief stricken widow; a son, Wm. Knoll, Jr., Coon Rapids; and three daughters: Mrs. Math Honold, Coon Rapids, Mrs Clarence Williams, Jefferson, and Mrs Bert Williams, Cooper. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Herman, St. James, Minn.; John, North Brook. IL.; Joe, Huffman, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Berends, Coon Rapids, and Mrs Fred Stratman, Carson, ND; besides 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
