Description	:	William Henry Reed died at the home of his son, George C. Reed near Bonner Springs, Kansas, Tuesday, February 4, 1913, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 17 days. Mr. Reed has been a sufferer of tubercular trouble for a number of years and was taken with an attack of tonsillitis which was the immediate cause of his death. Mr. Reed has been a sufferer of tubercular trouble for a number of years and was taken with an attack of tonsillitis which was the immediate cause of his death. William Henry Reed was born in Coburg, Canada, March 17, 1831 and came to the states when about eighteen years old and went to Southern Illinois where he was married to Mrs. Margaret Pruitt. To them six children were born, three sons and three daughters. Those living are Mrs. Mary McCarty of Charleston, Oklahoma. George C. of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Mrs. Ada Caywood of Maltland, Missouri, and Frank of Winner, South Dakota. Mrs. Sarah Van Horn of Villisca Died September 19, 1900, and one son died when about one year old. The mother of these children died in Illinois in 1873 and later Mr. Reed was again married, this time to Julia E. Day and in March 1875, they moved to Adams County, Iowa and the next year they moved to Montgomery County and settled on the Dr. M. N. McNaughton farm, north of Villisca. To this union three sons were born, the only one surviving being Ira of snider, Colorado. The second wife died about ten years ago and Mr. Reed was later married to Mrs. Mary Overman of Villisca, who died in February of last year. While yet a young man and soon after coming to Iowa, Mr. Reed united with the Advent Christian Church and was a faithful member of that denomination until a few years ago when, with his last wife, he united with the Christian Church. The deceased was a man of good principals. He was strictly upright and honorable in all his dealing with his fellow man. He was industrious and successful in his business life. He was well known and highly respected in the vicinity of Villisca. The remains arrived here Friday evening of last week, accompanied by his son, George C. and were taken to the Wolfe undertaking parlors. The funeral services were held at the Advent Church Saturday afternoon at two o’clock by Elder B. H. Coleman assisted by Elder Clark of Highland. The interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Those who were present at the funeral from out of town were George Reed, Bonner Springs, Kansas; Frank Reed, Winner, South Dakota; Ira Reed, Stalder, Colorado; Mrs. Ada Caywood and husband of Matland, Missouri; Frank Ben Day of Coring, Iowa.
