Wallace, 74, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Ewing funeral home and were conducted by the Rev. A. Breeling of Grant, former pastor of the Methodist church here. Burial was in the Union cemetery. Pall bearers were: Carl Buckholz, Harry Bakerink, Leslie Marten, Ira Bakerink, Frank Meisenheimer, Fred Duckett. William Henry Wallace was born on a farm near Marne, Cass County, Iowa, December 12, 1872, the second of Rebecca and Henry Wallace. His boyhood days were spent in and near Marne, attending school and helping his father on the farm. When a young man, he moved with his uncle to Nebraska, where he was engaged in farming. In November, 1895, he was married to Katherine Bisenius of Bloomfield, Nebraska and they established their home near there. To this union were born three sons and when they were quite small the wife and mother preceded her husband in death. With the help of his sister, he continued to make a home for his boys, later coming to Adair County, Iowa, where he since resided. During the last few years, he spent most of his time in Fontanelle, where he departed this life March 26, 1947, at the age of 74, 3 months and 14 days. Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, two sisters Mrs. Clara Dwyer and Mrs. Jennie South, and twin brothers Charlie and Frank. He leaves to cherish his memory his three sons, Walter of Greenfield, Clyde of Fontanelle, and John of Griswold, also eleven grandchildren; a sister Mrs. George Meisenheimer and a brother Tom, both of Greenfield, as well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends, all of whom will miss him in many ways. As a worker he was unexcelled. His genuine and sincere friendliness and his generous nature made him a friend indeed to all who knew him.
