Blanchard, 80, a pioneer farmer of the Star community, died at his home here Tuesday morning following an illness of several months. Some four months ago, while not in the best of health, he started to walk downtown. Passing behind a parked car he put his hand on the back of the car to steady himself just as the car started up. In falling his glove caught on the bumper guard, Dragging him several feet and throwing his left shoulder out of place. He failed to recover sufficiently to leave his home after this accident. He was a member of the local Masonic lodge and was very faithful in his attendance. William Horace Blanchard, son of John H. and Rachel O. Blanchard, was born at Chelsea, Tama county, Iowa, Sept. 20, 1862. He died at Coon Rapids June 1, 1943, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 11 days. He came to Carroll county about 1880 and on February 20, 1890 was married to Miss Elizabeth Snyder. To this union three children were, born: Vera Hazel, Russell Reid and Charles Vincent. Vera and Charles both died in early childhood. Left to mourn his passing are his wife and son, Russell, of Coon Rapids; two brothers, Uri Blanchard of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Ab Blanchard of Coon Rapids; two sisters Mrs. William Holloway; (Alpha) of Long Beach; Cali and Mrs. Elmer Bower (Loretta) of Omaha; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at the Coder funeral home yesterday afternoon with the Rev. Eugene Alexander of Coon Rapids and the Rev. W. F. Clayburg of Carroll conducting the service. Casket bearers were Fred French, Fred George; Nat Raygor, Claude Thomas, Duane Wheeler: and John Davis. A short Masonic service was held at the grave. Burial was in the Coon Rapids cemetery.
