Read More	DEPUTY COUNTY TREASURER TEMPLETON HAS STROKE William I. Templeton was born near West Bend, Wisconsin, November 26, 1848; died at Nelson, Nebraska, June 25, 1917, of cerebral hemorrhage which was visited upon him unannounced on Saturday evening at about nine o'clock, following the close of this week's labor as deputy county treasurer, being in apparent good health. His early life was spent upon the Wisconsin farm where he was born, being one of a large family of children, of whom three now survived him: one brother, Albert of Door county, Wisc., and John and a sister Mrs. Charles Nuss, both of Carrollton, Mo. Having finished such a course of study as he could obtain at the home schools, he took a course at the White water, Wisconsin, Normal school, and then spent a number of years as teacher in the schools of his home state. Growing tired of this he went to California, where he spent a number of years working in the timber of that state, and also upon some of the large ranches for which that state is famous. Upon the death of his father, he was called home and as administrator closed up the estate. He was united in marriage with Ella M. Warren December 25, 1883, and together with his wife came to Nelson, Nebraska, in the spring of 1884 and engaged in the hardware business which pursuit was closed up by him after a number of years, following which he was appointed deputy county treasurer of Nuckolls county (sic) over five years ago, which position he held at the time of his decease. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Helene Boyd of Edgar, Nebraska and two grand children. A son, Warren, was called home September 20, 1909 (sic); and a daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Portwood December 1, 1916, besides the brothers and sisters above referred to. The deceased was ever of a kind and genial disposition, keeping the bright side of life predominantly before him and allowing the clouds to drift by, looking for the silver lining in his entire career which enabled him to have a host of friends who were always glad to meet him with his cheery salutation which he seemed ever provided with. He was an exemplary husband and father, most kind and loving in his family for whom his only care seemed to be to make suitable provision. And in doing so always remained at home at the close of his days work in his business career, and busied himself around the home in order that he might thus add to the cheer and comfort of his little family. He seemed ever ready to lay down life's duties, having no apparent regrets, or leaving duties undone. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church (sic) on Wednesday afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. A,J, Dressler. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, June 28, 1917; pg. 1
