Read More	Dayton Review April 6, 1922 William Anderson Passes The passing away of William John Anderson at Oakdale Sanatorium on Wednesday of last week, takes another of the young soldier heroes of this community to his eternal reward. He was born at Des Moines, Iowa, May 10, 1899, hence was 22 years, 10 months, 19 days of age at his death. At the age of five he moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.N.B. Anderson, to Webster County, and made his home here until answering his country's call, enlisting December 6, 1917, and serving in Co. D, 31st Infantry until his discharge, October 22, 1920. He had a severe service, spending nearly all his service overseas in the Philippine Islands and in Siberia. During his service he contracted tuberculosis which was the immediate cause of his death. He leaves to mourn his early passing, his father, S.N.B. Anderson, Larrel, Delaware; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Plahn and Mrs. T.L. Swanlund of this place; a brother and a half brother, Charles W. Anderson and Geo. O. Davis, both in the naval service at Philadelphia, Penn. His mother, a sister and three brothers have preceded him to the Land of Rest. His funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the M. E. church, Rev. Walker conducting the services and Rev. Welch of Otho, who was overseas with the Y.M.C.A., preaching the sermon. His remains were accompanied to their last resting place in Dayton cemetery by Peterson Post No. 323 of this place and the Woman's Auxiliary the service at the grave closing with the usual military salute and taps. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in the closing of his brave young life all too son, just he had completed his country's service, and only stepped on the threshold of young manhood's activity.
