Description	:	William M. Hoaglin, 100, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at his home. He was born May 12, 1897, at Hillsboro, IA the son of Charles F. and Melissa Boley Hoaglin. He married Donna J. Nicholson Remick January 17, 1950, at Keokuk, IA. He attended the Hillsboro Schools through the tenth grad and graduated from Ft. Madison Business College. Pleasant and... Read More	William M. Hoaglin, 100, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at his home. He was born May 12, 1897, at Hillsboro, IA the son of Charles F. and Melissa Boley Hoaglin. He married Donna J. Nicholson Remick January 17, 1950, at Keokuk, IA. He attended the Hillsboro Schools through the tenth grad and graduated from Ft. Madison Business College. He worked for Shell Oil Co. in Tulsa, OK. Upon returning to Hillsboro in the early 1920's he worked as an assistant cashier at Framers and Traders Savings Bank in Hillsboro. In 1932 he moved to Mt. Pleasant and managed Hoaglin's Department Store until 1950. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Henry Co. Saving Bank January 13, 1942. He served as Vice President and later Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 1988. He was a 50-year member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club, A veteran of World War 1, and a 75-year member of the Hillsboro American Legion. He was a long-time member of the Mt. Pleasant Park Board, served over 20 years as treasurer of the Henry County Cattlemen's Association, was a member of the Henry County Appraisal Board for over 20 years, and served as the 4th President of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and former member of the Country Club on the River. He was involved in agriculture his entire life and enjoyed many hobbies including growing trees and flowers, rock collecting, fishing and hunting. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are his wife; one stepson, Russell Remick, Hillsboro; two step grandsons; one step granddaughter; seven step great grandchildren; one sister, Eva Harlan, Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Harry, Clyde, Frank, Mark, Joseph and C.F. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 1997 at First Presbyterian Church, Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial was at Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorial may be made to his church or Hillsboro Cemetery. Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant , was in charge of arrangements.
