Two children were born to William and Minerva: Cecil Rachel b. 27 Dec 1895, m. 14 Oct 1915 Walter George Billingham, son of Walter George and Sarah P (Johnson) Billingham; John Morgan b. 14 May 1900, d. 28 Feb 1970 Denver CO, m. Gladys Cummins, dau Lew and Agnes (Beswick) Cummins. ALANZO MOYER, William's uncle, had come from the Mohawk Valley in NY and settled on Clarks Creek southeast of Junction City, later moving to another farm in the Republican Valley on the east side of the River, just opposite the little town of Alida. One evening the river went on one of its habitual floods, so the Moyers had to leave their home in the middle of the night by horseback. The wife, Eliza, fell off her horse when it floundered in deep water, so she grabbed the horse's tail and was dragged to higher ground where she remounted. They moved from the Alida area several miles up the valley just southeast of Wakefield to live on the "Marsh Berry" farm. It was to this farm in the Republican Valley that William Moyer came as a young man in Oct 1884. In the early 1890's the Alanzo Moyer moved into Wakefield and their nephew William continued to make his home with them. Both Alanzo and Eliza are buried in Madura Cem. south of Wakefield. William was a clerk at the Alliance Store in Wakefield and held this job until his marriage to Minerva Myers. They moved to the John Retter farm southeast of Wakefield. In the early 1900s Moyers bought and worked the farm west of town which was homesteaded by the Bernard Budden family. William also owned a house in Wakefield.
