Description	:	William Paul Cave was born January 26, 1926, in Spalding, Nebraska, to George and Mary (Schlick) Cave. He grew up in Spalding before moving to Genoa. On March 17, 1943, Paul entered the U.S. Navy. He served as an Aviation Radio Man 1st Class aboard the King Fisher Float Planes. Paul was stationed in Attu Island from May 1943, till June 1944 where he worked as a Control Tower Operator at the Navy Airfield. He also served on the U.S.S. Read More	William Paul Cave was born January 26, 1926, in Spalding, Nebraska, to George and Mary (Schlick) Cave. He grew up in Spalding before moving to Genoa. On March 17, 1943, Paul entered the U.S. Navy. He served as an Aviation Radio Man 1st Class aboard the King Fisher Float Planes. Paul was stationed in Attu Island from May 1943, till June 1944 where he worked as a Control Tower Operator at the Navy Airfield. He also served on the U.S.S. Detroit which was anchored next to the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay during the Peace Treaty signing. Among other awards, Paul received 4 Battlestars. He was honorably discharged in February of 1946. After returning to Genoa, Paul married Maxine Borowiak on October 20, 1948 in Krakow. Paul went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as an agent telegrapher for 40 years before retiring in 1988. Paul was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 3704, and a member of the Genoa American Legion where he served on the Honor Guard for 59 years. He was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he was an EME and a Knight of Columbus. He also belonged to the Genoa Indian School Foundation and the Genoa Historical Museum. He served as treasurer for the Lions Club for 15 years and enjoyed his Ham Radio, duck hunting, fishing and raising his gladiola flowers.
