William Iske, 52 years old, a one time well known resident of Jasper County, died at his home in Bushnell, South Dakota, Sunday evening from inflamation of the nerves following influenza. Mr. Iske had been seriously ill for the past three weeks and all of his six children with the exception of one daughter in Colorado have been with him. His mother, Mrs. Nancy Iske and his brother, Charles, both of Newton, have been in Bushnell for several days. The funeral party is now on the way to Newton and expect to arrive here tomorrow morning. Plans concerning burial have not yet been announced. Mr. Iske, since leaving Newton 13 years ago, have been engaged in the general mercantile business in Bushnell. While in Jasper county he and his family lived on a farm four miles northwest of Newton. He was a progressive and industrious farmer and one interested in the welfare of his friends and neighbors. William Iske was born in Newton 52 years ago and made this city his home until 1910 when he and his family moved to South Dakota. He was married October 14, 1896 to Cecila Trusler and to this union were born six children, all whom survive. He leaves beside his widow, his children, Mrs. Lena Taken of Bruce, So. Dakota; Mrs. Edith Taken, Bruce, SD; Mrs Blanche Beam of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mrs. Ruth Grinsing of Carlton, SD; and Lily and Elmer at home. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Nancy Iske, of Newton; and his six sisters, Mrs. Carrie Scheel, of Newton; Mrs. Sophia Benskin of Laurel; Mrs. Maggie Tiedje of Newton; Mrs. Rose Bair, of Newton; Mrs. Mae Hesson of Newton; Mrs. Effie Hesson, of Newton; and three brothers, Charles and Laurn Iske of Newton; and David Iske of Laurel.
