Peva, youngest son of James Peva and Rachel Savage was a farmer all his life in Windsor, Me. He married Sophronia Norris, sister of Elbridge Norris, a shipbuilder of Damariscotta, Maine and they had 4 children. By 1843, Wm.'s older twin brothers Ebenezer and Ezekiel were both dead and older brother Hiram had been adjudged "non compos mentis" and a guardian had been appointed by the court to manage his affairs. Another brother John had died at 6 mo., and James Jr. also apparently died young (but no death record has been found), because neither James Jr. nor his heirs are mentioned in James Sr.'s will, written in 1857. So Wm. was probably the only son available after 1843 who could help his father operate and manage the farm which may explain why he inhereted, through James' will, all of the rest of James' property, real and personal, after James had left the sum of $1.00 each to widow Rachel, and each of his surviving children, or their heirs. Rachel petitioned the court for her "just right and dower" but no disposition was found. 1850 census shows Wm., Sophronia, Joseph, George, Wm. H., Ellen M., and Matthew Lynch, a "grist miller" from Ireland, living in Wm.'s household. In 1860, only Wm., Sophronia, Wm. H., and Ellen M. lived there, and by 1870, Ellen M. had left home, but Wm.'s youngest sister, Alvira (noted as "insane"), widow Rachel, and Wm. H., (by then a wounded Civil War veteran 27 yrs. old) were in Wm.'s household. 1880 census shows Wm., Sophronia, Alvira. Ellen M., and her husband, David Hysom in Wm.'s household, Wm. H. having apparently moved to Haverhill, Mass., and Rachel may have been with daughter Rachel Boyles. Windsor map 1 yr. before 1880 census shows "D. Hysom" living in a house across the road from Wm.
