Powell, Chas. Zorn, Levi Martin, Jesse Martin, Guy Hildebrand and Tom Allen. The following obituary was read at the service: William Preston Tish, son of Samuel R. and Alice C. Tish, was born near Searsboro, July 25, 1866, and passed away at his home August 10, 1941, at the age of 75 years and 17 days. He had been a long time resident near Searsboro, and had spent much of the time in the vocation of farming, having spent many falls in threshing work. Mr. Tish was one of eight children, four brothers and three sisters, all of whom have preceded him except Charles, of Blue Point. He was united in marriage to Jennie Belle Alderman on February 12, 1890, to which union eight children were born. Mrs. Tish departed this life in the year 1935 and since that time he kept a home as long as he was able to work, retaining that independent feeling he had of not wishing to bother others. Early years of his life found him answering the call of his Master, uniting with the West Liberty Church of Christ, and at one time was teaching the Bible while living in that community. For 14 years he faithfully served the City of Montezuma as night marshall, only resigning this work December 15, 1940. Mr. Tish was very energetic in life, being a strong man physically and of good health up to the past few weeks, and only bedfast three weeksk prior to his death. Those left to mourn his departure are Harry of Swea City, Tracey of Marshalltown, Mrs. Mable Wolfe of Fremont, Mrs. Alice Wolfe of Ray, Minnesota, Mrs. Doris Wilsterman of Monezuma, Walter of Ames, Mrs. Nellie Thompson of Waterloo, and Mrs. Winnie Calhoun, of What Cheer. All of whom were present for the service with the expection of Alice, who had just gone to her home for a visit with her father during his late illness. There are also twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preston was a good neighbor, a fine citizen, a home lover, a faithful friend, very energetic, honest in extreme sense of that term, a big hearted individual, a patient sufferer and a man of much kindness.
