On June 30, 1962 he married Elaine Wieser in Columbus. Survivors include his wife; children and their spouses, Paula and Rick Lau of Tulsa, Okla., Brenda and Jack Walsh of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Angela and Kevin Nurre of Great Falls, Mont., Elizabeth and Jon Best of Katy, Texas, Tony and Cathy Swanson of Hastings, Nathan and Cortney Swanson of Arapahoe and Katie and Greg Baran of Woodbine, Md.; sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and Howard Lederer of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews He was raised in St. Edward by his loving parents. Bill graduated from St. Edward High School in 1955 and entered the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 24, 1956. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 1, 1959. He and Elaine were married at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Bill spent most of his working years in sales positions in various industries. In 1977, he moved with his family to Arapahoe where he resided until his death. Bill was involved in many community and church organizations. He was instrumental in establishing community playhouses in Columbus and Kearney. He also was very active in the Cursillo movement and his local parish, serving as an acolyte, lector, parish council member and CCD teacher. Bill was also proud of his affiliation and membership in the Knights of Columbus and served in various leadership positions at both the council and 4th degree assembly levels. He was very pro-life and especially proud of his role in bringing the Rachel statue to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine at St. Germanus Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and four stillborn grandchildren.
