Description	:	Son of John Rath of Lancaster Co., Pa. & Mary of Trenton, N.J The funeral of William Rath, one of the pioneers of Defiance County, occurred Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at Rural Chapel in Tiffin township. Interment was at the McCauley Cemetery. William Rath was born in Carlyle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania on May 8th, 1826. He came to Defiance in September, 1846. Among them are: Mrs. Henry Toberan, Mrs. Jos Fidler, W. I. Rath, Ambrose Rath and J. H. Rath. Mrs. Rath died in 1870. Mr. Rath was then married to Mrs. Caroline Hockman. William Rath served for a time as Justice of the Peace and was very well known throughout the county. Defiance Crescent News, March 29th, 1910.
