William passed away August 12,1905 in Omaha, Douglas county, Nebraska and was laid to rest in the Schuyler City Cemetery. Newspaper Obituary, name and date of newspaper is unknown at this time. On Saturday evening, August 12, 1905, the remains of William S. Draper arrived here from Omaha for burial as he had died that morning in Central hospital of typhoid fever. The remains were accompanied by his uncles, John and Marion McClung and lay at the undertaking establishment of Chrasil & Kolm till Monday afternoon when the funeral was held. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Rev. McKee preaching the sermon, and the body being buried in the Schuyler cemetery. The deceased was a member of Company K and a squad came down from the Kearney encampment to act as a guard of honor at the funeral. Second Lieutenant Will Kolm, Mell Hashberger, Frank Dickinson, Fred Seehase and Howard Edmondson made up the squad and others joined here, making quite a company as an escort, turning out in their uniforms. The pall bearers were members of Company K, being Will Kolm, Ed Grisson, Mel Hashberger, Louis Munn, Harry Woods and Howard Edmondson. The death of Will was a surprise to the people of Schuyler who scarcely knew that he was ill. He left Schuyler last fall and went to Omaha where he attended business college. In the early spring he took a trip down into Arkansas and later returned to Omaha where he was until death. A few weeks ago he was taken ill and it was not first seriously considered, but when it was learned that he had typhoid fever he was taken to the hospital and treated. His condition was not considered serious until shortly before he died. The dead boy was the son of his second wife who had been Miss Bettie McClung, of this city. Will was born on December 1885, so was 19 years, 9 months and - days old when he died. His father died when he was five years old and the mother when he was but eight and being left an orphan, he made his home with his grandmother, Mrs. McClung and his uncle, John McClung. He had just reached the ago of young manhood and when life lay all before him when he passed from this life. It is a sad event for the relatives and the sympathies of many friends is extended to them. Omaha Daily Bee Newspaper, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, dated (Sunday) August 13, 1905. Schuyler - William Draper, aged 19 years, of this place, died at the Central hospital in Omaha today of typhoid fever. The remains arrived here tonight and the funeral will be hold tomorrow. He had been working in the Minneapolis & Omaha freight house in Omaha for the last few months. Previous to that he had been in Arkansas. A squad of Company K boys came down from Kearney to attend the funeral and act as pallbearers.
