Description	:	Source: The Victor Record 6/29/1916 WILLIAM SHERWOOD William Senior Sherwood was born in Jefferson County, New York, on April 17th, 1842. He was the son of John and Mary Sherwood, and the last one of a family of five children to pass away. He came to Illinois in 1863, and two years later, to Iowa County, Iowa, where he engaged in the occupation of farming. On the fourth of April, 1870, he was united in marriage to Lorinda Gwin. Read More	Source: The Victor Record 6/29/1916 WILLIAM SHERWOOD William Senior Sherwood was born in Jefferson County, New York, on April 17th, 1842. He was the son of John and Mary Sherwood, and the last one of a family of five children to pass away. He came to Illinois in 1863, and two years later, to Iowa County, Iowa, where he engaged in the occupation of farming. On the fourth of April, 1870, he was united in marriage to Lorinda Gwin. Six children were born to this union, the first-born dying in infancy, and the next child, Mrs. Almira Wiltamuth, passed away in April, 1910. For the past ten years, Mr. Sherwood had not been well, suffering from indigestion. Friday morning he seemed as well as usual, walking some distance to take the cows to pasture. About ten o'clock, he took severe pain in the abdomen, which renewed its attack in the afternoon. At 9:00 p.m. he seemed to fall asleep, and was thought by all to be better, but about 4:50 a.m. Saturday morning, he passed out of this life into the Great Beyond. The immediate family left to mourn his loss are his wife, and four children, Charles Sherwood, of Victor; Mrs. Nora Morse, of Montezuma; William Sherwood of Victor; and Mrs. Ola Scandridge, of Williamsburg. Besides these there are thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a great many friends to miss him. He was seventy-four years, two months, and seven days old. The funeral was held at the home, Monday, June 26, at 2:00 P.M., Rev. J. F. Rex officiating. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
