Description	:	William Shepherd Dorrance was born in Constantine, Mich., October 12, 1846. He moved to Iowa in 1858, where he resided until 1872, when he removed to Fairmont, Neb., where he spent the greater part of his life. He was united in marriage to Rena Bell, July 1, 1881. To this union were born four children: Paul, dying in infancy; Floyd of Luverne, Minn., Ross of Hoskins, Neb., and Mrs. Herman Podoll of Hoskins, Neb. He moved to Iowa in 1858, where he resided until 1872, when he removed to Fairmont, Neb., where he spent the greater part of his life. He was united in marriage to Rena Bell, July 1, 1881. To this union were born four children: Paul, dying in infancy; Floyd of Luverne, Minn., Ross of Hoskins, Neb., and Mrs. Herman Podoll of Hoskins, Neb. He spent the last few months with his daughter, Mrs. Podoll and his son, Ross, where he hoped to regain his health, and where kind hearts and loving hands did all that was possible to aid the patient sufferer. But the call to the Great Beyond came September 9, at 10 p.m. He was the last of his family of brothers and sisters. He leaves a large circle of relatives and friends, having been one of the pioneers in this county. He leaves, beside the children mentioned above, a sorrowing widow, and his memory will ever remain as a token of an active life. The funeral took place from his home in Fairmont Sunday afternoon, Rev. Charles P. Lang of the Methodist church officiating, and interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery.
