Description	:	WILLIAM SILK: There passed to the Great Beyond, on Friday, Oct 3rd, 1930, in the person of William Silk, one who had been a resident of Shelburne for over forty years. He was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Silk, of Melancthon, and was born on the farm now occupied by John McLean, at the corner of the third line and five sideroad, Melanchton, and spent his childhood and young manhood there. Read More	WILLIAM SILK: There passed to the Great Beyond, on Friday, Oct 3rd, 1930, in the person of William Silk, one who had been a resident of Shelburne for over forty years. He was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Silk, of Melancthon, and was born on the farm now occupied by John McLean, at the corner of the third line and five sideroad, Melanchton, and spent his childhood and young manhood there. In April 1889, he was married to Sarah Ellen Bailey, and they settled in Shelburne where they have lived ever since. There remains to mourn his loss, his widow and four sons and two daughters: Edgar, Alfred, Clarence, Shelburne; Bertrand, Oshawa; Mrs. E. C. Mandley and Mildred, Shelburne. Two brothers and two sisters also survive: Harry Silk, Toronto; Robt. J. Silk, Orangeville; Mrs. W. Judge, Toronto; Mrs. S. J. Simmons, Dundalk. The funeral was held from his late residence on Sunday, Oct. 5, and was largely attended. Rev. Levi Halfyard, of Wesley United Church, conducted the service, and Mr. Arnott Bailey, of Toronto, sang, "Some Day We'll Understand." The flowers were lovely and included: Pillow, wife and family; pillow, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mandley and family; wreath, brothers and sisters; sprays, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rennick, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Parson, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Thompson and Leslie, Mr. Udney Wilson. The pallbearers were S. Simmons, Wm. Redick, Thomas Silk, William Slack, Harry Silk, Thos. Watson, The flower bearers were six grandchildren -Chester, Gladys and Freda Mandley, Arthur, Alvin and Dave Silk. Friends from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Silk, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Judge, Mr. and Mrs. William Slack, Mr. and Mrs. Arnott Bailey, Mr. Bert Bailey, Mr. Eddie Thompson, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. S.
