Read More	William T. Robey, Jr., 86, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, August 10, 1993 in a Lexington hospital. He was born in Buena Vista September 23, 1906, the son of the late William T. and Corinne Henkle Robey. He was a Business, Civic and Church Leader and former Mayor of Buena Vista. He was educated at Duke University and the University of Virginia. He was President of Robey Motor Company, which owned Ford and General Motors Dealerships in both Virginia and West Virginia from 1942-1966 and was founder and past President of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and member of the National Ford Dealers Council. Mr. Robey served on the Board of Directors for Columbia Gas Company of Virginia, Virginia National Bank, Virginia State Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trustees for Southern Virginia College for Women, Randolph Macon Academy, Ferrum Junior College and Lake Junaluska Assembly of North Carolina. He served on the first City Council for Buena Vista under the City Manager form of Government and was Mayor of the City of Buena Vista for four years. He served on the Virginia Legislative Advisory Council. During World War II, he served on the Selective Service Board and was Chairman of the local War Bonds Sales. Mr. Robey has been active in the Methodist Church since 1922 and served for thirty-two years on the Board of Stewards for St. John's United Methodist Church. He also served as Lay Leader of the Staunton District for the Methodist Church, member of Executive Committee of the Conference of the Conference Board of Lay Activity, member of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Methodist Children's Home, serving as its Chairman for four years, member of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Methodist Home, serving as its Treasurer and a member of the Virginia General Conference. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loise Laura Robey. Surviving are one daughter, Martha Lou Robey Derrick, Lexington; one son, W. T. (Pete) Robey III, Buena Vista; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. at the St. John's United Methodist Church by the Dr. Rev. Robert Hawkins. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lomax Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. John's United Methodist Church, the Buena Vista Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
