Description	:	William W. Gibson,61, a Hemingway farmer, died at 11pm Friday after an illness of two weeks. He was the son of the late William W. and Nancy Fletcher Gibson of Gibson, N.C., where he was born and spent his boyhood. He attended Red Springs Military School (now Flora McDonald College) and the Smith Business College of Richmond, Va. Prior to coming to Hemingway 11 years ago, he was a member of the Red Springs Trinity Methodist Church where he had served as secretary and treasurer for 30 years. He was the son of the late William W. and Nancy Fletcher Gibson of Gibson, N.C., where he was born and spent his boyhood. He attended Red Springs Military School (now Flora McDonald College) and the Smith Business College of Richmond, Va. Prior to coming to Hemingway 11 years ago, he was a member of the Red Springs Trinity Methodist Church where he had served as secretary and treasurer for 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H. J. Bennett, pastor of the Hemingway Methodist Church, and the Rev. Leroy Caulder, pastor of the Hemingway Baptist Church. Burial, conducted by Morris Funeral Home, was held in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, J.D. Brown,Jr., K.M. Brown, O.G. Huggins,Jr., Dr. John May, Dr. Herman Singletary,Joe Rodgers, Billy McCay and W. B. Harmon. Mr. Gibson was married twice. By his first wife, the late Ida Martland Jones Gibson, survive two sons, W.W. Gibson III of Hemingway and Robert Gibson of Columbia, and one daughter, Miss Betty Gibson of Hemingway. He is also survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Huggins Gibson.
