Description	:	William W. Wheeland was born in Chillicothe, Ill., and died at the Nebraska Sanitorium at Hastings, August 3, 1918. He came to Nebraska in 1882 and w*** to farming near Edgar. He was married December 26, 1883 to Miss Carrie Ashley. To this union was born one child, a son Milton who lives at Campbell. He farmed about 20 years when he sold his farming implements and stock and moved to Edgar going into the poultry business for a few years and then rented the Commercial Hotel and restaurant. In 1909 he sold out and went to Oberlin Kansas and... Read More	William W. Wheeland was born in Chillicothe, Ill., and died at the Nebraska Sanitorium at Hastings, August 3, 1918. He came to Nebraska in 1882 and w*** to farming near Edgar. He was married December 26, 1883 to Miss Carrie Ashley. To this union was born one child, a son Milton who lives at Campbell. He farmed about 20 years when he sold his farming implements and stock and moved to Edgar going into the poultry business for a few years and then rented the Commercial Hotel and restaurant. In 1909 he sold out and went to Oberlin Kansas and bought a restaurant. He remained there but a short time, going from there to Hastings, going into the restaurant and bakery business. He had suffered considerable during his life with heart and stomach trouble and had been near the grave while on the farm. While in Hastings his health failed again and he was compelled to sell his business interests. After several weeks in the hospital he came back to Edgar, 1900, and later bought the transfer business. Since then he has had poor health but managed to do considerable work until in December when he seemed to give out. Later an abscess of the kidney developed and he was taken to the Sanitorium on June 22 and operated on the following Monday. For a time it seemed that he had a small chance but the remaining kidney was unable to do double duty and the heart soon began to show signs of the strain and he passed peacefully away last Saturday. Besides his widow and son he leaves five brothers, George of Oberlin, Kan., Luther, Todd and John of Edgar and Fred of Ekley, Colo. Seven sisters, Mrs. Wm Strawser of Edgar, Mrs. G. W. Elgin of Yuma, Colo., Mrs. Henry Graham and Mrs. Nora Williams of Edgar, Mrs. J. N. Fensterbaker of Oak, Mrs Della Porter and Mrs Effie Kennedy of Lincoln. Two sisters and one brother preceded him to the other world. He also had three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at the home by the Rev J. C. Christie who preached a beautiful sermon. The remains were laid away in the Edgar Cemetery. All of his sisters and brothers were present except Geo and Fred who live at Oberlin, Kan., and Ekley, Colo., respectively. Those who attended from a distance were , Mr. G. W. Elgin of Yuma, Colo., M. W. Wheeland and family.
