Vinzant Wm. W. Vinzant was born in Parke county, Ind., July 6, 1840, and died at his late home four miles south of Mansfield June 14, 1912, age 71 years 11 months 8 days. Mr. Vinzant united in marriage with Wealthy J. Cox. Nov. 6, 1859. There were 12 children born to this union 10 of whom are living. Two and his wife are dead. He again united in marriage with Jane Woolverton May 21, 1900 (sic). She survives him. Mr. Vansant (sic) spent most of his life in Parke county. Quite a number of years however were spent in eastern Kansas where most of the children now live. He was an honored veteran of the Civil war. He had been a member of the M.E. church for over 50 years and had always lived a quiet christian life. He leaves to mourn a wife, 10 children with their companions, 30 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters and many other relatives and friends. Five of his children with brothers and sisters were at the home during his last hours, and to them he said he was ready to go. Thus he departed in peace with God. The funeral service was held at the home Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m. There was a large gathering of relatives and friends. The service was conducted by Rev. Frank E. Rounds who spoke from this scripture, "But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" -- 1 Cor. 15: 57. In compliance with his request the body was taken to Pleasant Ridge cemetery near Clay Center, Kan., where it will be buried beside the companion who preceded him to the spirit world. All of the children except Mrs. Chas. Thomas of Rosedale live in the west not far from this burying place.
