A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014, at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Reverend Trever Rook officiating. Burial will be in the Greeley Cemetery.. "Bill" Johnson, 86, of North Loup passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at his home. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. William Wesley was born February 16, 1927, to Burt Sr. and Doris (Pogue) Johnson on the family farm north of Scotia, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at a rural country school. As a young man, Bill worked on area farms. On March 25, 1944, he was united in marriage to Marie Elizabeth Judge at Burwell, Nebraska. The couple made their first home in the Sandhills of Greeley County. During World War II, Bill served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and France. In the early 1950's the family moved to Lincoln where Bill worked at Elgin Watch Company and did construction work. They moved to California and Bill worked at the Parko Rubber Company and Gardena Rubber Company as the General Manager. Following his retirement, the couple spent ten years Wyoming during the 1980's. While in Wyoming, Bill enjoyed the outdoor life and entertaining his family and friends from Nebraska and California. Bill and Marie were raising their granddaughter, Teresa Johnson, when they settled in North Loup. Marie passed away on November 10, 2010. Bill continued to make his home in North Loup until his passing. Bill enjoyed working in his wood shop and an excellent craftsman. He will be remembered by the many wooden toys and furniture that he shared with family and friends. He fed his squirrels and birds daily and also enjoyed horses. He enjoyed the outdoors; snowmobiling, fishing and taking his family hunting. Bill had a love for his family and especially cherished the time spent with the grandkids. Survivors include two daughters, Margie Clements and her fiancé Richard Gallegos both of North Loup; and Rose Marie Fisher of California; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Johnson of California; five grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete Johnson of Ord; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Myrtle and Ron Skolil of North Loup, Betty Jensen of North Loup and Helen Jensen of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie and a sister, Patty Jensen.
